6 years! 6 years is a long time… or is it! It feels like yesterday we were celebrating 5 years in business. Little did we know what was around the corner.
The last 12 months have been challenging to say the least. It was certainly an experience that none of us will ever forget, nor should we. Those difficult times and set-backs should make us stronger, more resilient and more prepared than ever should we have to experience the unknown again!
In an ideal world, this year would have gone slightly differently, okay, maybe completely differently! But you can’t change the script, you just have to crack on, and that’s what we did. Fortunately, since 2014 we have worked hard to build a business with stable and solid foundations. A business that is not driven by greed or instant gratification, but one that has focused on small steps, and consistent organic growth which have sheltered us from the harsh environments of the last 6 months. Despite all the negativity, 2020 has been a positive and valuable year. We’ve made huge leaps in our processes and systems and were named as ‘The Most Trusted Energy Broker Partners, North West’ in the SME news awards – a brilliant achievement. However, my most proud accomplishment to date, and the reason I believe why we have managed, so far, to emerge out of the Covid crisis relatively unscathed, is based on how we have looked after our customers. Everything we have done, from day one, has been to support our customers and add real value to their businesses. Our customers have been fantastic, and their support and loyalty throughout the last 6 years, but in particular, the last 6 months has been humbling – Outsourced Utilities sole focus is on providing the best possible business energy experience to our customers, and by virtue of their reciprocal loyalty, we would be nothing without them.
This year has taught me a few things;
- Do not take anything for granted
- Be grateful for what you have
And lastly, to keep bloody going! A friend of mine once told me, to be successful over a long period of time, all you have to do is ‘stay in the game’ – I suppose there has never been a time when that has rang more true.
The world has changed so dramatically in such a short period of time. And business will too. My hope, and a focus of ours at Outsourced Utilities, is that more businesses recognise how fragile this planet is. How one natural event can wreak devastation across the world – physically and economically. We hope businesses across the UK recognise the part they have to play in looking after and respecting this wonderful planet that we all reside in.
Green energy supply contracts are the easiest and most effective way, in my opinion, to contribute to tackling climate change. By switching your business energy to a contract that is powered by renewable energy, shows that you care, shows that you are taking a stand! With prices for green energy contracts now on par with traditional ‘dirty’ energy contracts, there really is no excuse to make the switch and #GoGreen.
Alongside pursuing our company vision of ‘a better business energy experience’ we have the mission to switch as many businesses as possible to green energy. Our #GoGreen campaign will be central to our marketing efforts and my goal, by our 10th birthday is (a) to still be in the game (of course!), and (b) that every single business we look after is powered by green energy!
